Last year, I googled something about women in music, and the top result was a Quora question asking why there aren't many women in music in comparison to men. Disappointed with the answers I read (even denying the inequality), I wrote an answer. I was going to expand it on Quora, but now I have my own website to write about music on, I'll give the answer to myself!
My main conclusion was sexism, and I'll add the reasons why (I only go as far back as the 1920s) here soon.
I wish I'd written it already given the news no women were nominated for "Best Artist" in the 2023 Brit Awards.
Every little helps, so it's easy to improve things. Seek out underrepresented musicians, add them to playlists, buy their releases and merch, share their music, and request them on radio and at festivals.
